Program Overview

Early Childcare Assistants (ECA) work alongside Early Childhood Educators to provide developmentally appropriate child care for children up to age 8. They are employed in child care facilities, early learning centers, and school aged children programs.
Graduates of the ECA program have received thorough training and practical experience in areas vital to child development and care. Through classroom instruction, discussion, observation, group work, demonstration, assignments and evaluations, they cover theory, case studies and skills needed for childcare. Through hands-on practical opportunities and assessment, they develop the necessary abilities to succeed in a childcare or early learning center.

Admission Requirements

18 years of age or older.
Assessment: Online or In-person Counselling
Result to Prove English Proficiency:

IELTS (Academic) – 6.0 overall
IELTS (General) – 6.0 overall with each band 6.0
PTE (Academic) – 51 overall
TOEFL IBT – 60 overall
CELPIP – 7 overall with each band 7

In the absence of the above ESL required.
Secondary or Post Secondary Degree Diploma.

Learning Outcomes

Assurance that graduates have been trained to meet established learning outcomes and program standards
Assurance that the graduate has the knowledge required to do the job as verified by third party testing
Assurance that the skills required to do the job have been verified prior to graduation

Job Responsibilities

Support lead educators in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children.
Assist in the implementation of age-appropriate curriculum and educational activities.
Supervise and engage children in play and learning experiences.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the childcare facility.
Monitor and document children’s development and behavior.
Collaborate with parents and guardians to share children’s progress and address concerns.
Ensure children’s basic needs, such as feeding and hygiene, are met.
Promote positive social and emotional development among children.
Assist with the planning and execution of special events and outings.
Continuously update knowledge and skills through professional development.
