    Program Overview

The Brick and Stone Mason Program is a modular, Red Seal–aligned training course designed for individuals seeking a career in one of the oldest and most respected skilled trades. Brick and stone masons build and repair structures using bricks, concrete blocks, natural stone, and other masonry materials—bringing strength, durability, and timeless aesthetics to homes, commercial buildings, and public infrastructure.

This program combines theoretical learning with hands-on masonry experience. Students gain practical skills in laying bricks and blocks, cutting and shaping stone, mixing mortar, and constructing walls, chimneys, fireplaces, arches, and decorative masonry features. Emphasis is placed on reading blueprints, ensuring structural integrity, working with different bonding patterns, and maintaining safety on job sites.

Graduates of this program will be prepared to pursue Red Seal Certification in the Bricklayer trade. This nationally recognized credential demonstrates advanced trade competency and allows masons to work across Canada with increased job flexibility and long-term career potential in both heritage restoration and modern construction.
